Facial Reflexology Sorensensistem™

Facial Reflexology Sorensensistem™ is a complementary therapy based on ancient facial maps of the body from traditions in the Far East and South America.  Designed over 30 years by Danish Reflexologist Lone Sorensen – Sorensensistem™ combines these traditional methods with the study of modern neurology of the face and central nervous system.

Facial Reflexology Sorensensistem™ works through the face and due to its closeness to the brain, is thought to ensure that sensory stimulus takes the shortest possible root to the control centre of the body to address health imbalances.  In a Sorensensistem™ treatment session, the entire surface of the face is stimulated (except the eyelids), and is thought to initiate a natural improvement in the blood and energetic circulation in the body, and nerve function to the brain, lymphatic drainage and muscle tone of the face.  These all contribute to an enhanced feeling of whole-body well being.  Its roots go back many centuries drawing from many traditions and practices.  It combines both ancient and modern therapies and scientific anatomical and physiological knowledge and ideas to potentially help the individual heal on all levels – physically, energetically and psychologically.

As a complementary therapy, Facial Reflexology Sorensensistem™ addresses all aspect of an individual: emotion, physical, mental, energetic and spirtual.  Therefore any imbalance within an individual may benefit.  It is my opinion that the treatment is appropriate for many diverse health issues as well as learning and behavioural issues in children.

The therapy is suitable for clients of all ages including children (who may respond particularly quickly) and those with disability.  Tangible results may be experienced quite quickly and the benefits potentially continue for some days.  However, like with any complementary therapy it does not claim to cure or diagnose and each individual reacts differently to treatment.  Reflexology, foot and facial, aims to help the body regain homeostasis (or balance) and a course of treatments is always recommended to potentially help achieve this.  In addition to your treatment, self help “homework” techniques may be prescribed and recommended to further enhance your treatment and well being.

A Sorensensistem™ treatment will combine the use of acupressure and a deep reflexology massage of the face as I work over a selection of up to 11 different facial maps.  The treatment involved no equipment other than my finger tips and aromatherapy oil or cream, to assess your facial maps and design a reflexology plan especially for you.  A Sorensensistem™ treatment is approximately 50 minutes duration, but treatment time can be extended by incorporating additional facial massage techniques subject to your requirements and in consultation with your therapist.

As well as addressing any physical and emotional imbalance within the body, Facial Reflexology can also help improve the appearance and tone of the skin thus potentially helping to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, acne, age spots and other skin conditions.
